Our approach is based on a three-part system: Customized Test Planning, Targeted Skill Building, and Test Taking Strategy.
Customized Test Planning
Each student comes to us with a pre-existing skill set. For purposes of standardized test preparation, we evaluate past academic and standardized test performance to determine reading, writing and vocabulary level, as well as math and science levels to develop an individualized learning profile. We keep track of relevant data. We have discovered, for instance, that since there is more vocabulary on the SAT Reasoning Test, high-vocabulary test-takers often perform better on the SAT, whereas students whose native language is not English often fare better on the ACT.
Targeted Skill Building
We encourage students to identify academic weaknesses as early as possible. Early action not only reduces the impact of specific weaknesses on standardized tests, but also improves academic performance and understanding.
Test Strategy
Our standardized test strategy has a dual focus, which includes quick and efficient methods of problem-solving, and a focus on anxiety alleviation. High school tutoring support extends from foundational help with elementary and intermediate reading, grammar, and math through Advanced Placement (AP) classes.
