Courtney E. Guthreau

Director of Development

Courtney joined CDI in November 2023 with over 20 years of experience in international development. She has worked with boards, donors, companies, government agencies, and local communities on a range of issues, including public health, the environment, and disaster response. Her areas of expertise and interest are strategic communications, program design, resource mobilization, and community empowerment.

Before joining CDI, Courtney was at The Nature Conservancy (TNC) for ten years, where she managed an important partnership with the Latin America Conservation Council. Comprised of influential CEOs and philanthropists, the Council helped to pilot and scale sustainable practices that enhance water and food security by protecting watersheds, rivers, forests and soils. Prior, she was Regional Director for the Americas at Project HOPE, developing innovative programs to strengthen health systems and access to care.

Courtney has a bachelor’s in International Studies from City College of New York and graduate studies in Sociology. She lived in Mexico for 16 years and co-founded the Mexican non-profit SerBien with her husband, Abraham, to improve diabetes education, prevention, and self-care. She continues to serve as chair of the board.
