| In selecting CDI Scholars, we seek
high school Juniors who are: |
| 1. |
Academically prepared to handle challenging
college-level coursework. We require a minimum unweighted
academic GPA of 3.0 (on 4.0 scale). |
| 2. |
Taking a challenging course load, including honors and/or
AP courses. |
| 3. |
Eligible for federal financial aid (US citizen or green
card holder). |
| 4. |
Low-income, i.e. eligible for Free and Reduced Meals
according to income guidelines set by Montgomery County
Public Schools. (For a family of four, annual earnings
should be less than $36,000, plus $6,000 for each additional
person per household.) |
| 5. |
Interested in applying to and attending out-of-state,
four-year colleges and universities. Students may also
consider those schools in the University of Maryland system
and the Washington metropolitan area. |
| 6. |
Self-driven and highly committed to learning and personal
development. Students must demonstrate an ability to work
hard, meet deadlines, honor commitments, and stay the
course despite obstacles. Scholars should be open to receiving
coaching and mentoring from CDI and serving as role models
to their peers. |
