CDI President & CEO elected to national academy

Collegiate Directions, Inc. President and CEO Amma Felix was recently elected to be a Fellow of the National Academy of Public Administration. Her induction into the Academy will take place during the 2021 Academy Fall Meeting, November 3. NAPA is a nonprofit, congressionally chartered organization dedicated to improving the performance of our public institutions—in every branch and at every level. Widely regarded as one of the highest honors for those serving in public administration, election places Academy Fellows amongst more than 940 of the nation’s top public executives and scholars, jurists, current and former cabinet officers, members of Congress, governors, mayors, state legislators, and diplomats.

Amma has over 20 years of experience at various mission-driven organizations all focused on improving equity and access for communities in need of economic and educational opportunities. Prior to Collegiate Directions, Amma held strategy positions at the United Negro College Fund in DC and the Abyssinian Development Corporation in NYC. She previously worked in the field of community development at the Local Initiatives Support Corporation leading capacity building work for the NYC program. Amma also served as an adjunct lecturer at the City University of New York/Baruch College’s School of Public Affairs, where she taught public and nonprofit management to graduate students. She also worked in program operations at the Center for Alternative Sentencing and Employment Services in NYC which served court-involved youth.

Amma holds a bachelor’s degree from Syracuse University, a master’s degree from Cornell University, and a master’s degree in public administration from the Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs at Syracuse.

Amma currently serves as a member of the Syracuse University Maxwell School Advisory Board. The Howard County (MD) Executive appointed her to the Board to Promote Self-Sufficiency which promotes the economic stability of individuals and families and reduces the incidence of poverty in the County. She is also an active Diamond Life member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc.
